Tracy Ljone (pronounced lee-OWN) enters her third season as Lobos head women's swim coach. During her first two years, Ljone has encouraged excellence in the classroom as well as the pool. The UNM women's swimming and diving team posted a 3.47 grade-point-average for the 2007 spring semester, which ranked as the highest among UNM's 21 intercollegiate sports. In the 2005-06 season five members of the team were named to All-MWC teams. The Lobos' posted a dual meet record of 6-6 for the 2006-07 season, the best in three years.

Before becoming head coach, Ljone spent the 2004-05 season on deck as the Lobos' assistant coach under former head coach Bill Spahn. Ljone also spent two years as a strength coach in the UNM weight room, working with many of the university's athletic teams.

Ljone was previously the head swim coach at Georgia Southern University from 1999-2002 where her team compiled a 13-10 overall record. In Ljone's three years, GSU swimmers recorded 96 percent of their top individual times. In 2000, she led Georgia Southern to a second place finish in the Southern Conference Championships.

Ljone was a four-year letter winner on the South Carolina swim team from 1993-97. During her collegiate swimming career, Ljone gathered several accolades. She was recognized on the Southeastern Conference Honor Roll from 1994-97 and was a three-time NCAA All-Academic Team selection. She earned her B.S. in Exercise Science from South Carolina in 1997 and received her masters in Sports Management from Georgia Southern in 1999. Ljone is currently completing her Ph.D. in Sports Administration at UNM.
