Lobos in 10th at NCAA East RegionalThe 20th-ranked University of New Mexico women's golf team is in 10th place after the first round of the NCAA East Regional being played at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. Complete results and live scoring are available at www.golfstat.com. The top 8 teams will advance to the NCAA Championships May 20-23 in Albuquerque. UNM enters Friday's second round six strokes from the eighth spot held by Wake Forest.4/28/2008
Women's Golf in Postseason for 16th Straight YearThe 20th-ranked University of New Mexico women's golf team has earned a spot in the 2008 NCAA East Regional. Competition is May 8-10 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. This marks the 16th consecutive year New Mexico has qualified for postseason, or every year since regional play was introduced in 1993. The Lobos earned the automatic berth earlier this month by winning the Mountain West Conference Championship. Live stats will be available at www.GolfStat.com. Champs! Lobos Take MWC Title by 19 ShotsThe University New Mexico got off to a rocky start, but finished strong to run away with the 2008 Mountain West Conference women's golf championships played at the UNM Championship Course. The Lobos posted a 54-hole total of 888 to easily outdistance BYU by 19 strokes. Lobo sophomore Jodi Ewart snared the individual title for the second straight year. She had a 1-under 72 today to finish at 219, two shots better than teammate Morgan Grantham and BYU's Natalia Jimenez.4/18/2008
Lobos Increase Lead to 14 Shots at MWC ChampionshipsALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University New Mexico got balanced scoring to increase its lead to 14 shots after two rounds of the 2008 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championships being played at the UNM Championship Course. The Lobos carded a 1-under 291 today for a 36-hole total of 589. BYU is second at 603. Live scoring of the event is available on www.Golfstat.com. 182 Lobos Honored For Work In The ClassroomThe University of New Mexico Athletics Department recently honored 182 Lobo student-athletes at the Fifth Annual Student-Athlete Academic Awards Celebration. Student-athletes were recognized for excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.20 or higher cumulative grade point average and excellence as active members of their team. 16 student-athletes are currently maintaining a 4.0 or higher cumulative grade point average. |
