NEW MEXICO: Backstedt enters her junior season with high expectations after two years of collegiate experience ... competed in a couple of tournaments over the summer, including placing ninth at the Felix Finnish Ladies Open ... Backstedt carded rounds of 74-72-69=215 and was the highest amateur to finish. SOPHOMORE (2006-07): One of three Lobos to compete in every tournament and helped guide UNM to the NCAA National Championships ... In 33 rounds, Backstedt had a 76.69 scoring average ... finished in the top 20 four times, including a third place finish at the Landfall Tradition tournament in the fall.
