2007-08 Men's Golf Season RecapThe University of New Mexico men's golf team came into the season with high hopes and a talented group of returners looking for their fifth Mountain West title in six seasons. However, tough luck and no breaks along the way left the Lobos with a sixth place finish at the MWC Championships and a season ending sooner than most expected. The Lobos shot a 16-over 868 (296-284-288) at the MWC tournament to end head coach Glen Millican's 7th year at New Mexico. The Lobos posted four top-10s in 2007-08, but failed to make the postseason for the first time since the 1984 season.4/26/2008
Lobos Finish Sixth at the MWC ChampionshipsTeam Leaderboard | Individual LeaderboardThe University of New Mexico men's golf team shot a 4-over 288 in the final round to finish in sixth place at the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships today. The Lobos ended the 54-hole event at 16-over par (296-284-288=868) and 18 shots behind champion Colorado State (288-284-278=850, -2) at the Tucson National Golf Club (par-71, 7,136 yards) in Tucson, Ariz. Junior Jon Sauer led New Mexico in the individual standings, tying for 18th at 5-over (74-73-71=218) after an even-par 71 today. 4/25/2008
Lobos Move Into Sixth at the MWC ChampionshipsTeam Leaderboard | Individual LeaderboardThe University of New Mexico men's golf team moved up one spot to sixth place after posting an even-par 284 in today's second round of the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships. The Lobos are 12-over (296-284=580) after 36 holes at the Tucson National Golf Club (par-71, 7,136 yards) and 16 strokes behind leaders TCU (283-281=564, -4) and BYU (286-278=564, -4). Junior Steve Saunders posted the low round of the day for New Mexico, carding a 3-under 68 in his second round. 4/24/2008

No. 16 UNLV leads the event at 3-under (281) at the Tucson National Golf Club (par-71, 7,136 yards) in Tucson, Ariz. Freshman Tom Carlson was the low Lobo of the day, carding a 1-over 72 in his opening round. 4/23/2008
Lobos Looking for Fifth MWC Title in Last Six YearsThe University of New Mexico men's golf team is set to participate in the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships this week at the Tucson National Golf Club (par 71-7,136 yards) in Tucson, Ariz. Competition runs April 24-26, with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. (M.D.T.) for each round. Teams will play 18 holes each day of the event. |
