NEW MEXICO:
Impressive wide receiver prospect who has shown the ability to be an immediate contributor on gameday...not a lot of bulk, but has caught almost everything thrown his way since arriving at UNM...seemed to make a highlight reel catch every day during the 2007 spring practice season...made steady progress in the weight room during the offseason...challenged the defense every day at practice while redshirting the 2006 season...teammates rewarded his effort by voting him Most Valuable Offensive Scout.
HIGH SCHOOL:
A 2006 graduate of Las Cruces (N.M.) Mayfield High School...first team all-state WR who helped Mayfield to the Class 5A state title in 2005...the Trojans were undefeated, finishing 14-0...Hernandez caught 70 passes for 1,084 yards and 10 TDs for an offense that generated more than 4,700 yards and 30 points a game...played for head coach Jim Bradley...second team all-state at free safety as well...also participated in basketball and track.
