NEW MEXICO: Former walk-on and returning starter who was one of the biggest surprises for the Lobo offense in his collegiate debut last year and is the top returning receiver in 2008...will open the year as he ended 2007 as the starter when the Lobos are in a 3-WR formation...not very big, but studies the game well and runs great routes to get himself open downfield...has flashed excellent hands and is a quick, agile weapon with the ball in his hands...coaches say that pound-for-pound he is the best blocker among the WRs...a very consistent performer...wasn't expected to factor into the regular rotation entering spring practice in 2007, but turned in a strong training camp performance and played his way into a regular gameday role early in the season...watched practice almost every day in street clothes when he first arrived on campus in the fall of 2005, but didn't join the team officially until the spring of 2006...displayed a strong work ethic on the practice field right away, staying late to polish his receiving and return skills...continues to make solid progress in the weight room each year...was a scout team player in 2006 and has two years of eligibility left. 2007 (SOPHOMORE): Developed into a strong No. 3 WR in his debut season...played in all 13 games and started 6 times, along with first team all-MWC honorees Travis Brown and Marcus Smith, when UNM opened in a 3-WR set...was 3rd on the team with 21 catches for 186 yards (8.9 avg.), including a long of 52 on a screen play...season-highs of 5 catches for 86 yards in the Lobos' New Mexico Bowl victory...also had 5 catches for 30 yards at Utah...2 grabs for 28 yards vs. BYU - both coming on 3rd-and-long plays...rushed 5 times for 34 yards on the year, including a 22-yard TD on a direct snap vs. Sacramento State. HIGH SCHOOL: A 2005 graduate of Central HS in Beaumont, Texas...two-year letterman for coach David Suggs...honorable mention all-district selection on the gridiron as a senior...standout long and triple jumper for the Jaguar track and field team...two-time regional qualifier and district champ in 2005...graduated with honors and was a National Honor Society member...T.A.A.F. Beaumont Male Athlete of the Year in 2003.
