You may have already heard, but we released our non-conference schedule today. Click here to see the whole thing. Most of it was set before we got here, but we had some holes to fill - and some we are still trying to fill. The TBA game on Nov. 12 may, or may not, be our home opener. That game could fall in the first weekend in December or on an open date in January. It will all depend on who we can get on the schedule.

Everything else seems to be in good shape as far as the schedule is concerned. We would like to have played more Saturday games, but Dec. 22 is the New Mexico Bowl and Nov. 24 is full with the last home football game of the season against UNLV and a women's basketball tournament that was already scheduled. We didn't want to compete with those events so we had to move those games to Sundays.

We added Ole Miss at the last minute, which is going to be a tough road game for us. They won 21 games last season and are set for another strong year. However, they will return to The Pit next season and anytime you can get an SEC team on your home floor you have to jump on it.

Things have been hectic this month with recruiting, moving and other family obligations. One of my sons was playing in an AAU event in Virginia Beach the first weekend in July. I left straight from there to go recruiting for a couple of weeks. After that, I went home to pack the U-Haul and finally made it back to Albuquerque on the 19th for my first day in the office in July.

The moving truck gets here tomorrow and I leave for recruiting again on Sunday. Perfect planning on my part if you ask me. Not so sure the rest of the Alford's feel that way.

You should see us out-and-about after this recruiting period is over. Coach Neal and I will both be speaking at the New Mexico High School Coaches Association meetings on August 1-2 in Albuquerque. We have a lot of other things being planned so check back here to see what is going on.
