Lobos Help Dedicate Playground at MartineztownLobo men's basketball players Dairese Gary and Daniel Faris, along with the United Way Young Leaders Society, helped dedicate playground improvements at the Martineztown Town Community Center on Saturday, April 19. Gary and Faris helped the local youth break in their renovated outdoor play areas that were funded by the Young Leaders Society. 4/23/2008
2007-08 Season RecapThe University of New Mexico's 105th season of basketball ended March 19 with a tough 68-66 loss at Cal in the 1st round of the MasterCard NIT. Despite falling in its last two games, the Lobos had a remarkable turnaround under rookie head coach Steve Alford, posting a 24-9 overall record. 182 Lobos Honored For Work In The ClassroomThe University of New Mexico Athletics Department recently honored 182 Lobo student-athletes at the Fifth Annual Student-Athlete Academic Awards Celebration. Student-athletes were recognized for excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.20 or higher cumulative grade point average and excellence as active members of their team. 16 student-athletes are currently maintaining a 4.0 or higher cumulative grade point average.4/3/2008
Giddens Set to Compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk Contest Tonight on ESPNUniversity of New Mexico men's basketball senior J.R. Giddens is set to compete in tonight's State Farm College Slam Dunk Contest live on ESPN, beginning at 7 p.m. (M.D.T.). The event kicks off the Final Four weekend and is set to take place at the Greehey Arena on the campus of St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas.4/3/2008
Branch Law Firm Men's Basketball Banquet Date SetThe University of New Mexico men's basketball team will celebrate its 2007-08 season with the Lobo Club's Branch Law Firm Men's Basketball Banquet on Thursday, April 10. This year's banquet will be held at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. A private reception begins at 6:00 p.m. (M.D.T.) with the awards dinner starting at 7:00 p.m. |
