Johnson Named MWC Men's Track Athlete of the WeekUniversity of New Mexico senior Jeremy Johnson and Colorado Sate senior Drew Morano have been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Co-Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon. Johnson is the third Lobo to earn the men's award this outdoor season, matching a program record and tying BYU for the most in the MWC this spring.5/5/2008
Johnson Clocks NCAA Automatic Qualifying Time At StanfordUniversity of New Mexico senior Jeremy Johnson secured his return to the NCAA Outdoor Championship meet with a sensational performance in the 10,000-meter run late Sunday night at Stanford's elite Payton Jordan Invitational. Johnson clocked a career-best and NCAA automatic qualifying time of 28:33.08 - fourth among collegians at the meet - in his first 10K race of the year.5/3/2008
Lobos Win 10 Events, Capture Rio Grande Rivalry At Don Kirby InviteOn a perfect day for track and field the University of New Mexico gave its fans plenty to cheer about at its lone home meet of 2008, the 18th Don Kirby Memorial Invitational. The Lobos won 10 events and the women's team clinched the Rio Grande Rivalry title for UNM with a 204-143 victory over New Mexico State. New Mexico to Host 18th Don Kirby InvitationalThe University of New Mexico will host the 18th Annual Don Kirby Memorial Invitational, sponsored by the Modrall Sperling law firm this Saturday at the Great Friends of UNM Track Stadium. This will be the lone home meet for the Lobos and final tune-up before the Mountain West Conference Championships on May 14-17. The field events begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the running events at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.4/27/2008
Lobos Win Three Events At CaliforniaJunior Katie Coronado improved to a perfect 6-0 in the javelin senior Robert Caldwell picked up his first pole vault victory of the season and junior Lee Emanuel won the 800 meters to lead the University of New Mexico over the weekend at California's Brutus Hamilton Invitational. The Lobos return home May 2-3 for their lone home meet of the 2008 season - the 18th Don Kirby Memorial Invitational at the G.F.O. UNM Track Stadium. |
