All-America candidate Jeanne Fairchild has been named the first Qwest Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2007-08 season. Fairchild led the Lobo volleyball team to a 3-0 start on the season and the championship of the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic. Fairchild averaged 5.40 kills per game for the Lobos as they beat Florida Atlantic (3-1), Grambling State (3-0), and San Jose State (3-2).

Fairchild was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament for her efforts. The junior from Albuquerque recorded two 20-kill matches against Florida Atlantic and San Jose State.
