Lobo Baseball Field

Lobo Field was UNM's home field for over 35 years, and is now the team's primary practice facility. UNM improved the playing surface of Lobo Field in 2004 by installing SS Turf in the infield. New Mexico used the home field to its advantage under Coach Rich Alday, posting winning records in every one of Alday's seasons at UNM. The Lobos played their last season at Lobo Field in 2003 and made it a memorable one, winning 22 games, the most under an Alday-led squad. The Lobos played every season except one (2001 - Albuquerque Sports Stadium) at Lobo Field since the mid-1960's. New Mexico has dominated play on its home turf, and has been even more invincible at home since 1990, the first year of coach Rich Alday's tenure. Since Alday's arrival, UNM has amassed a home record of 260-116 (.691). In 1998, a new addition to Lobo Field was an indoor batting cage, the Ambrose Alday Batting Complex. Complete with heat, lights and video monitors, the facility consists of three cages, is carpeted and is equipped with pitching machines. In 1999, a new aluminum fence was installed, giving the field a sparkling new look and providing an excellent hitting background.
